RAVENS RIDGE DH

June 25, 2023  |  Ravens Ridge Trail |  Tillamook State Forest, Oregon

June 25th marks the inaugural Ravens Ridge DH race hosted by the Fat Tire Farm and Hurricane Racing. This long-standing downhill track can be considered a classic in the Northwest. This is a full blown downhill race on a course with fast, rough, technical sections that warrant line choice and holding it wide open in sections.

As with any of our races, it doesn't necessarily matter how fast you are. Instead, it's all about just having fun in the woods and celebrating the community around mountain biking. Note that we're requiring full-face helmets for this race.

Let's go racing!

LOCATION

Tucked away in the Tillamook State Forest is the Ravens Ridge trail. Roughly an hour outside of Portland.

This purpose built downhill trail was built by volunteers is a short drive from the infamous Fear & Loaming trail.

THE COURSE

Track Length: 1.7 miles

Descent: 1,250 feet

This is a fast DH track with little opportunity for pedaling. The top half of the track is in the woods featuring steeper sections, plenty of roots, and some rocks.  The lower half once you cross the road is in the clear-cut. Less steep but wide open fast sections, loose flow, and mostly optional features.

While the trail requires some technical riding skill, there are no mandatory features. Everything is roll-able. Any modern mountain bike will do. Most racers are riding bikes with 130-160mm travel and that's just fine. Enduro and downhill rigs aren't necessary.

We encourage riders to pre-ride and practice the course prior to racing. This trail is open to the public, so get some laps in and find your speed on this track before race day. Time for practice on race day will be limited.

Please note, full-face helmets are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED and protective gear is also strongly recommended for this race. Between now and race day, registered racers can save 25% on a new full-face helmet by coming by the shop and showing us your registration confirmation and ID
