Dialed Ride - Santa Cruz Chameleon

This week, we've got another one of our custom builds--Garry's new Santa Cruz Chameleon (frame $599). The 26" hardtail Chameleon is a versatile bike--it comes with an eccentric bottom bracket, so it's ready to go geared or singlespeed.  Garry's got it set up with a 39-18 right now--a bit taller gearing than the usual 2:1 on a mountain bike.  The frame is designed to run anywhere from 100-160mm of travel.  This one has a 150mm Rock Shox Revelation on it.

Garry's nuts about these bars.  Salsa Whammy bar is almost 31" wide.  Thomson setback seatpost and WTB saddle in the background.

Formula The One brakes are super-lightweight and have tons of stopping power.

Chris King Sotto Voce gold headset and Thomson stem.

SRAM/Truvativ XX carbon crankset is stiff and light.  The 39t chainring might be a little big for general trail riding, but Garry's a big boy and he can handle it.  18t Chris King cog on the freehub.  Time ATAC pedals round out the package.

Crank Bros Iodine wheelset and the nice new Trail King tread from Continental  (2.2 in the back and 2.4 in the front).

It's maiden voyage was up at Sandy Ridge the other day, and Garry said it was a little bone-rattling on upper Hide & Seek, but all-in-all a blast to ride.
